Custom Hockey Jerseys Ordering Guide | Athlein Sports

October 06, 2026 3 min read

Custom hockey jerseys work best when the team approves more than the design. Quantities, garment measurements, decoration, player identification, and delivery requirements all need to be clear before production. A complete brief helps suppliers price the same product and helps your team avoid expensive corrections.

Define the order before requesting a quote

List the number of players, the number of jersey sets per player, and any spare garments. Separate skater and goalkeeper requirements.

Specify whether the order includes matching outer socks or other apparel. If you want different practice and game products, describe them separately.

Include the destination country and the date the garments need to be in hand. A production completion date is not the same as a delivery date.

Ask about the supplier's current minimum order, sample charges, payment terms, and options for later replacements. Athlein Sports' published offering includes custom ice hockey apparel and multiple decoration methods; confirm the specific options available for your order. Athlein Sports.

Choose fabric and decoration together

Do not approve the artwork while leaving the fabric unspecified. The selected material affects feel, appearance, fit, and which decoration methods are appropriate.

An integrated printed design can accommodate broad color layouts. Sewn crests, embroidery, and tackle twill can create a different appearance and feel. Ask for samples or close-up examples that show the actual construction.

Clarify which elements are included in the base price. Names, numbers, captain letters, sponsor marks, and additional patches may be priced differently.

Confirm fit before adding personalization

Request the current measurement guide for the chosen model. Establish whether it shows body dimensions or finished garment dimensions and how each measurement is taken.

Arrange a fitting over the equipment players will use. Include the smallest and largest sizes, plus goalkeeper requirements, in the review.

For unusual proportions, ask what pattern adjustments are possible and how they will be documented. Do not assume a custom design automatically means a custom fit for every individual.

Make the roster a controlled document

Use one approved list with each player's exact name, number, cut, size, and quantity. Mark captain letters explicitly.

Assign one person to control changes. If several players send separate messages after approval, the supplier can receive conflicting instructions.

Review the final artwork against the final roster. Check front and back designs, color references, logo proportions, number readability, and small-size scaling. Keep the version that was approved.

Use artwork your team has the right to reproduce. Obtain permission for third-party logos and sponsor marks before including them.

Understand what happens after approval

Ask when sampling, final approval, production, inspection, dispatch, and delivery are expected. Allow time for corrections and shipping uncertainty in the project schedule.

Agree on how defects, missing items, and production errors will be reported. Keep the order confirmation, approved proof, sample reference, and delivery details together.

A good custom order creates a repeatable uniform specification. That makes future player additions easier, reduces reliance on memory, and gives the manufacturer clear instructions. Start with a precise brief, confirm the sample, and approve the roster only when all purchasing details are aligned.
